‘Kain tayo’: Herlene Budol — To release song based on controversial convo

Seemingly cashing in on the popularity of two words — kain tayo (let’s eat) — which prominently figured in her controversial alleged conversation with Magandang Dilag leading man Rob Gomez, Herlene Budol is all poised to release a song titled, well, Kain Tayo.

Budol shared on Instagram a photo showing her supposedly practicing and rehearsing for her new song.

“Ciempre abangan ang bagong single na ilalabas ko sa 2024 – KAIN TAYO,” said part of the caption to the photo.

Budol’s post was met with jeers, not cheers. As one fan said: “Yung ginagawa mong joke yung nagcause ng trauma sa ibang tao. Magaling din ano. Wala ng humanity at respeto sa kapwa babae. Hindi ka magandang ehemplo sa lahat” (You make a joke about something that caused trauma in other people. You don’t have humanity and respect to fellow women. You’re not a good example to anyone).

Actually, Budol is doing a Kim Chiu. Remember when the It’s Showtime host recorded a song titled Bawal Lumabas, which was a take-off from remarks she made in 2020 that was also bashed by some?

Andrea over Liza in ‘100 Most Beautiful Faces of 2023’

It’s becoming an Andrea Brillantes season as the controversial actress starts the year with a bang — making it to the Top 20 of TC Candler’s 2023 list of The 100 Most Beautiful Faces of 2023.

Brillantes placed 16th in the list and is the only Filipina to make it to the Top 20.

Last year’s second placer, South Korean-American singer Nancy McDonie of MOMOLAND, placed first, followed by Russian model Dasha Taran and TWICE member Sana.

Other Pinay celebrities who graced the 2023 list include Ivana Alawi (21), Liza Soberano (28), Janine Gutierrrez (45) and Belle Mariano (71).

Soberano is the only Pinoy actress to appear in the list for nine years running. She even topped the roundup in 2017.

Pura Luka Vega’s early Christmas gift

Chirstmas came early for controversial drag queen Pura Luka Vega when one of the cases filed against him was dismissed.

Luka posted on X (formerly Twitter) a short screenshot of the resolution exonerating him from the case filed in Tacloban City.

“Very grateful that at least one of all the cases filed against [me] was dismissed. Laban lang,” she said in her caption.

Vega achieved notoriety when he performed his controversial “Ama Namin act” in drag, which to some came off as sacrilegious and blasphemous.

With that, he was declared persona non grata in several cities and provinces. Celebrities and politicians also criticized Vega for her act. Now she may be seeing the reversal of the legal cases filed against her.
