Shantay, you stay!: ‘Drag Race Philippines’ gets 3rd season

The fun is not yet over! After the recently concluded Season 2 of Drag Race Philippines, the hit reality television series got renewed for a third season.

The good news was made public on World of Wonder’s social media accounts on 17 October.

“All fierce things come in THREES! Today at MIPCON, World of Wonder officially announces that Drag Race France, Drag Race Philippines, and the long-awaited Drag Race Thailand will each return for a 3rd season,” the post read.

Earlier this month, transgender woman Captivating Katkat emerged as the winner of Drag Race Philippines’ Season 2, besting 12 talented and fierce contestants from all over the country.

The Filipino hit reality show made history by having three transgender women enter the Final Four of the competition: Captivating KatKat, Bernie and M1ss Jade So.

Meanwhile, Drag Race France, which concluded last August, also broke records. The European franchise garnered over 800,000 in average audience figures per episode, and was also the first among its European counterparts to film and record its finale in front of a huge crowd.

Drag Race Thailand, on the other hand, was renewed for a third season after its last season aired in 2018. Natalia Pliacam and Angele Anang emerged as titleholders for the first and second seasons, respectively.

The drag queen representation has made a huge impact in the media landscape, garnering a legion of loyal fans and viewers worldwide. In the United States, RuPaul’s Drag Race, RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked, RuPaul’s Drage Race All Stars and RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars: Untucked have all been renewed and are expected to premiere next year.
