Demi, who was born in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro, started his artistic journey at a young age. He developed an early interest in painting, using it as an outlet and a form of expression.
Demi’s artistic philosophy mirrors his life’s journey. He describes the precious stones and diamonds used in the Golden Layers as representations of his life’s successes. “Madami nangyari sa buhay ko na parang layer by layer na success kasi nanggaling ako talaga sa sobrang hardship in life (Many things have happened in my life, as if layer by layer of success, because I really came from extreme hardship in life),” he shared with the DAILY TRIBUNE.
This hardship sparked his creative flair. He recalled collecting broken toys and painstakingly putting the remaining pieces together to make something entirely new and unique. This deed represented hope in the face of adversity, a motif that runs throughout all of his artwork, including Golden Layers.
