Missed Coldplay’s jampacked two-night concert last January at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan and you happen to be traveling to the United Kingdom this June? You’re in luck because the globally revered British rock band will headline the Glastonbury Festival for the historic fifth time, surpassing the record four times set by ’80s band The Cure.
Considered as the largest greenfield music and performing arts festival in the world, Glastonbury Festival is held annually for the last 53 years on Worthy Farm in the beautiful village of Pilton in the Somerset countryside. This 2024, it will run for five days from 26 to 30 June.
Another British music icon, the Albanian performer Dua Lipa, will make her debut in the festival, which had an all-mall lineup last year. She takes the Friday night schedule gig.
“I have dreamt of this moment all my life! Something that lived only in my wildest dreams and highest manifestations!!! I am so excited to see you all in my favorite place on earth and make it a night to remember!!” Lipa said in a post on X.
Dua, who’s set to release her third album, “Radical Optimism,” on 3 May, will be joined in the Friday Night Pyramid Stage by the British alternative rock band Keane. Some of its hits are “Somewhere Only We Know” and “Everybody’s Changing.”
Likewise taking center stage are American artists, including Cyndi Lauper, Shaina Twain, Avril Lavigne, Camila Cabello, Anne-Marie, Olivia Jean and SZA.
Twain expressed delight for her inclusion in the upcoming music fest. “I feel so honored and so excited about this one! Thinking about what to wear already and tell me, what should we sing together?!” said the “You’re Still the One” hitmaker via Instagram.
South Korea will have a representative for the first time as the boy group Seventeen takes part at the Glastonbury Festival. Carats (as its fans are called) in that part of the world, take note!
