There’s no better way to wrap up the year than by witnessing a live concert featuring your favorite animated film.
The Academy Award-winning animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is coming to Manila — not a for a screening in cinemas, but for a live concert. On 22 November, Wilbros Live announced that the animated film would be revamped into a live concert experience for fans.
“Get ready to experience Spider-Man in a whole new level this season! Catch Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse LIVE in Concert! 30 December Saturday at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Samsung Hall, SM Aura Premier,” it said.
The live performance will feature Daniel Pemberton, the award-winning composer and songwriter behind the animated film, along with a live orchestra, electronics and turntables for a memorable musical experience.
“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is one of my favorite scores I’ve ever written. Utilizing a full orchestra, crazy electronics and unbelievable turntable scratching techniques amongst a million other things, it is so technically complex I never thought we’d ever be able to actually reproduce it in a live concert, but somehow, we have,” Pemberton said in a press statement.
Premiering initially in March at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, New York, the live concert showcased music by top pop artists Post Malone, Nicki Minaj, Lil’ Wayne, Jaden Smith, Swae Lee and Aminé.
Released in 2018, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse is the first animated film in the Spider-Man franchise that follows the life of Miles Morales, joined by other Spider-people from multiple parallel universes.
The animated film became the first non-Disney or non-Pixar film to win Best Animated Feature Film at the 91st Academy Award. It also won in the same category at the BAFTA, Golden Globe Awards and more.
Tickets will go on sale on 25 November at 12 p.m. through SMTickets.com and SM Tickets outlets.
