SM Foundation upgrades Air Force hospital, Baguio health center

The SM Foundation was able to complete the rehabilitation of two healthcare facilities in Luzon before the end of 2023.

The Lucban Health Center in Baguio and the Air Force City Hospital in Clark City, Pampanga, received upgrades as part of the SM Foundation’s commitment to improving healthcare in the Philippines.

At Lucban Health Center, the rehabilitation efforts focused on creating modern, patient-centric facilities that comply with the Department of Health’s guidelines.

The revamped health center feature new facilities and an improved layout to create designated spaces for different services. This includes consultation rooms, triage areas, dental rooms, health worker offices, breast-feeding areas, vaccination rooms, storage areas and a rainwater catchment facility.

Putting emphasis on accessibility and inclusivity, the SM Group’s foundation installed a mobile play cabinet for children. It is now PWD-friendly, with wider doorways, ramps and accessible restrooms.

The SM Foundation also took steps to create a more welcoming and comfortable environment for patients. The lobby areas have been redesigned with comfortable seating, colorful accents and friendly staff. This helps to reduce anxiety and make patients feel more at ease during their visits.

The SM Group also completed the renovation of the Air Force City Hospital in Clark City, Pampanga. The first phase of the project, which began in 2022, included the upgrade of the hospital’s outpatient department, lounge/receiving area, administrative area, emergency room and radiology department.

The renovations were designed to improve the patient experience and enhance the accessibility of the hospital. The new facilities feature a more modern design and layout, with designated spaces for different services, comfortable waiting areas and PWD-friendly restrooms. The radiology department has also been equipped with new X-ray and ultrasound machines.

The Lucban Health Center and the Air Force City Hospital are the 201st and 202nd health facility that the SM Foundation has rehabilitated since its health and medical programs’ inception.
