Ranked number one among 150 B&Bs in Tagaytay

To be competing head-to-head with peers in the industry and to be ranked number one among 150 bed-and-breakfasts (B&Bs) in Tagaytay City, Cavite, is a big honor and achievement, indeed. And this distinction, recognized and given by TripAdvisor, belongs to The Inn at Cliffhouse Tagaytay. Truth to tell: This is not the first time that The Inn has placed first in the ranking. It has consistently ranked number one among Tagaytay B&Bs for the past 10 years. An even meaner feat. TripAdvisor’s ranking is based on four things: Location, cleanliness, service and value.

Location? Check! The entire Cliffhouse complex sits right on the Tagaytay ridge fronting Taal Volcano. There is no better view than from this location. The Inn is tucked inside the spacious Cliffhouse complex, where a number of exquisite restaurants can be found. Not many people know that there is an inn — or B&B — because there is no massive structure that obstructs the view of Taal Volcano.

The Inn only has four rooms, and they are all luxury suites that offer a direct view of Taal Volcano — Brant Point Suite, West Quoddy Suite, Montauk Point Suite and Minot’s Ledge Suite. Designed to be one level down from the restaurants, they are ridge developments with their own private terrace that overlooks the picturesque volcano. Both Brant Point Suite and Montauk Point Suite are 75-square-meter middle suites with two premium queen beds, an en-suite bathtub and a private terrace. Both West Quoddy Suite and Minot’s Ledge Suite are 100-square-meter corner suites with two premium queen beds that open up to a private terrace and outdoor jacuzzi. And because the suites are huge, everything inside is spacious, too, such as the bathroom, the foyer and the entertainment area.

All suites have been named after prominent lighthouses. And because there are only four rooms at The Inn, the attention of the staff is focused on the guests. Service becomes impeccable.

One thing to look forward to when booked at The Inn is breakfast — or brunch, if you prefer to enjoy it late morning towards lunchtime. Breakfast is well-thought of, coming often in a Western three-course set, such as yogurt with strawberries topped with homemade granola and muscovado (starter); baked egg, maple glazed Canadian ham with baked beans (main); and salad greens, roasted tomato, butter fried whole wheat toast points (sides); baked apple crumble with cinnamon chantilly cream, brandy pecan butterscotch cookies and candy cane (dessert); plus Mimosa Bellini, sparkling wine, orange, apple and peach juice, Roaster Juan artisanal coffee and Twinings tea selection (beverages).

For leisurely activities after breakfast, guests can just hang around the place, walk around the garden lined with beautiful trees and shrubs or appreciate the beauty of Taal Volcano at the Viewdeck. One can even just sit on a rocking chair fronting the lake and rock away while enjoying the full, unobstructed view of the small but grand volcano. And when hunger sets in, Cliffhouse’s set of restaurants are sure to satisfy even the biggest hunger. They can also go out anytime for other cravings and highland activities, as Cliffhouse is located right along the main highway of Tagaytay, knowing they can safely come back at any time of the day.

The Inn is not ranked number one in Tagaytay for nothing.
