Randy Ortiz wows with fresh interpretations of the modern Filipiniana

Seasoned Filipino fashion designer Randy Ortiz marked his 35th year in the industry with a 70-piece collection that told the story of his life in shapes, textures and colors that reimagined the modern Filipiniana.

Using fabrics remembered from childhood to his rise in the fashion stratosphere, Ortiz took the audiences at The Gallery in Greenbelt 5 on a visual feast that brought everyone to their feet with resounding applause.

The show that unfolded on 16 November was solid proof of his fashion genius — one that has continued to grow through these transformative times.

The show, featured by Ayala Malls’ Bravo! Filipino, a celebration of local culture and heritage, was directed by Jackie Aquino and Robbie Carmona.

Host Ogie Alcasid opened the show that was highlighted by the stellar participation of Dingdong Dantes, Juliana Gomez and the top models of the ‘90s such as Tweetie de Leon-Gonzalez, Wilma Doesnt, Phoemela Baranda, among others.

In a previous interview with an online magazine, Eany Ortiz said: “All the clothes are contemporary with Filipino inspirations.”

The parade of beautifully crafted separates, cocktail and evening wear showed his unique interpretations of local fabrics, highly stylish and extremely wearable. The men’s suite also showcased Ortiz’s singular touch, giving the pieces character and color in the creative use of fabrics and cuts.
