Prost! All-night, non-stop ‘authentic’ Bavarian celebration

Beer. Food. Music.

Yes, Newport World Resorts’ first-ever Oktoberfest celebration promises free-flowing German draft beers, an authentic Bavarian cuisine and all-night, non-stop performance from a German-based show band.

“This is the grand debut of the authentic German Oktoberfest at Newport World Resorts,” says Knut Becker, NWR vice president for Food and Beverage Operations and a German national. “Oktoberfest has always been a major event we look forward to in Germany. Besides the food, beer and music, the fun comes in celebrating with the whole community.”

Oktoberfest is Germany’s most popular festival and the biggest beer festival in the world.

“It’s very big, especially since it started as a royal wedding celebration more than 200 years ago. Hundreds of people fill the streets of Munich every year, and we also hope to see a crowd in the grand debut of Oktoberfest at Newport World Resorts,” Becker shares.

SAUSAGE platter, expertly prepared by German butchers, includes Bratwurst, Hungarian, Nürnberger and Sauerkraut.

To be held from 19 to 21 October, 6 p.m., at the Grand Ballroom of Hilton Manila, NWR’s Oktoberfest 2023 will offer beer lovers a dizzying selection of classic Bavarian draft beers, such as Helles and lager, and high-quality special brews like the Korbinian dark beer in bottles from the Weihenstephan Brewery, the world’s oldest brewery of Bavarian beer.

“Our culinary team led by chefs Mateo Ragonjan and Ryan Hong partnered with the Weihenstephan Brewery to serve a special brew of dark beer and German butchers to create an authentic Munich spread,” says Becker, who’s been in the Philippines for four years now.

The family-style spread includes freshly baked Laugen pretzels and soft rolls; Munich-style sausage salad; an assortment of Bratwurst, Sauerkraut and regional sausages like Nürnberger (grilled pork sausage ring); pork knuckle and chicken schnitzel; and for dessert, baked apple strudel and shredded pancake served with vanilla ice cream and berry compote.

“Much like the Oktoberfest celebrations in Munich, all these are meant to be shared with everyone across the table,” Becker adds.

The hotel’s Grand Ballroom will be dressed with classic long benches and checkered tablecloths for guests to gather round — along with all-night entertainment from the world-renowned AnTon Showband all the way from Austria.

“Guests will be welcomed by our service ambassadors all dressed in tracht or traditional clothing for an immersive dining experience,” he adds.

Becker, however, offers a word of caution to beer enthusiasts.

“We encourage everybody to have fun. But fair warning, the exclusive Oktoberfest beer we have is way stronger than the average local beers here in the Philippines.”

“So, Veilen dank und prost (Thank you and let’s celebrate)!”
