At the recent Subdivision and Housing Developers Association convention, Secretary Acuzar urged private developers to continue supporting 4PH and to contribute in uplifting the lives of the poorest of the poor Filipinos through provision of decent yet affordable housing.

Under the Executive Order, the DHSUD is tasked to identify national and local government lands suitable for housing and human settlements in coordination with concerned NGAs and LGUs and undertake the required activities for their development.

According to the EO, the country’s housing need estimates have accumulated to 6.8 million in 2017-2022.

4PH is seen to benefit around 30 million Filipinos through the construction of 6.15 million housing units within six years.

The funds necessary for the implementation of the Order shall be charged against current and available appropriations of concerned agencies, subject to pertinent budgeting, accounting and auditing laws, rules and regulations. Thereafter, the funding requirements for succeeding years shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act, subject to the usual budget preparation process.

For the whole month of October, the DHSUD will deck a series of activities in relation to the National Shelter Month as declared by the Proclamation No. 662, s. 1995. The government through the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council, its shelter agencies as well as the Subdivision and Housing Developers Association, Inc. and the Chamber of Real Estate and Builders Associations, Inc., PAG-IBIG Fund and other organizations, will further forge strategic alliance towards the attainment of the goals and objectives of government’s shelter program — that is to provide affordable yet quality homes to Filipinos.
