Over the weekend, the celebrity ex-couple finally broke their silence about the surrounding break-up news and its causes.

Dominic Roque and Bea Alonzo confirmed their break-up with a lengthy Instagram post last Saturday afternoon, 11 February.

“After much thought, consideration and care, we have mutually decided to amicably end our engagement. It was not an easy decision. We wanted to have more time to carefully deliberate and pray about it, but there have been many speculations, questions and insults,” the post said.

“Unfortunately, some even confirmed our break-up without our consent, and some created ridiculous stories that had no basis and were utterly false, so we felt the need to share this announcement with great sadness, for our peace of mind and our families,” it added.

The couple also asked for patience and respect in this difficult time.

“Please understand that this is an extremely painful yet unified decision, and we sincerely request for everyone to kindly spare us from more cruel and very hurtful words thrown on social media. We kindly request to give us the privacy we need as we navigate our future lives with respect, kindness, compassion and dignity.”

Last Tuesday, 6 February, veteran TV host Boy Abunda confirmed the break-up of the engaged couple during his afternoon program Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.

Before Abunda’s confirmation, entertainment reporter Ogie Diaz also testified on his YouTube vlog that Bea and Dominic had split up.

Dominic Roque defended Bea Alonzo days after Abunda confirmed the couple’s break-up.

“Bea’s a beautiful person inside and out… no hate/bashing/negative things please…” the actor said on his Facebook page.

Alonzo and Roque became a couple in January 2021, and in July 2023, the actress confirmed their engagement.
