TV personality Maine Mendoza called out the Philippine Daily Inquirer for allegedly spreading fake news.

In her post on X, formerly Twitter, Maine said the newspaper’s headline is “misleading and false”.

She was referring to the Inquirer story that she and her actor-politician husband, Arjo Atayde, will fly to Switzerland, Italy, and Greece after their wedding as part of Arjo’s official trip being the vice chair of the special committee on creative industry and performing arts of the House of Representatives.

To which, Maine immediately denied it, commenting online that she and Arjo will go to Locarno, Switzerland as the latter’s film, “Topakk”, is part of the Locarno International Film Festival.

The inclusion in Locarno of this action-thriller movie, which Arjo top billed, was announced by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) on social media last month.

Moreover, Maine clarified that they will shoulder their trip and expenses out of their “own pockets”.
