An estimated 2,000 individuals congregated at the Clark Parade Grounds over the weekend to witness the annual production of Tulauk, a Lenten Pampangan zarzuela depicting the life of Jesus through the eyes of Apostle Peter.
Presented by Arti Sta. Rita and Teatru Kapampangan, and helmed by Pampangan artist Alejandro “Andy” Alviz, the production received acclaim for its captivating performances and witty script co-written by Rev. Fr. Deogracias Kerr Galang.
Clark Development Corporation officials watched the interactive zarzuela and expressed their delight at the production’s success.
Audiences from various neighboring communities in Pampanga, including Mabalacat City, Angeles City, Porac, Santa Rita, and Floridablanca came together to witness the zarzuela.
Residents shared their enthusiasm for the production, with Mary Grace Bucud from Planas, Porac, praising the event for its family-friendly atmosphere, while Princess Chescah Castro from Floridablanca, Pampanga, highlighted the spontaneity of their decision to attend, which turned out to be a delightful surprise.
“These shows are good. It’s fun because I’m with my family and my children and we can watch this for free,” Bucud said.
Meanwhile, Castro shared, “Actually, my friends and I didn’t know that there was going to be a show, we just planned to have a picnic. Then we saw a lot of people so we watched it, too. They are great, even the ones who sing. Then there is free food.”
The production’s inaugural show for the year was held at the Sta. Rita Eco Park on 2 March, receiving support from the City Government of Mabalacat, Department of Tourism Region 3, and CLTV 36.
