Hotel101 group shines a light on sustainability, expands to Los Angeles

DoubleDragon Corporation’s hospitality arm, Hotel101 Group, has put forward its sustainable initiative across the simultaneous tree-lighting ceremonies of its properties nationwide.

101 Stay Green, launched in 2022, has seen the Hotel101 Group engage in various projects, including information education campaigns, tree planting, coastal clean-ups, and its Bike Happy program. Collaborating with the Department of Tourism, the Philippine Coast Guard, local government units, and various stakeholders has been integral to these efforts.

General manager Gel Gomez highlighted the significance of holding the group’s main occasion at Hotel101-Fort, a 33-storey business and leisure hotel at Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City. The property is on a 1,224-square-meter lot and boasts sophisticated facilities, specialty retail shops, and restaurants.

During the celebration, the second 101 Stay Green champions were recognized. They are Taguig City Mayor Hon. Maria Laarni “Lani” Cayetano, Malay Mayor Hon. Frolibar Bautista, Philippine Coast Guard Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan, Department of Transportation Undersecretary Anneli Lontoc, Department of Tourism NCR Director Sharlene Zabala-Batin, Booking.com, and International School of Sustainable Tourism chair and president Dr. Mina Gabor.

“As we gather around our Christmas trees, let us remember that the essence of the holiday season lies in our ability to give back while having fun and celebrating with our loved ones,” Gomez said.

Entering mainland US

Hotel101 Global recently secured a 3,647-square-meter prime corner commercial lot in Los Angeles, California.

Hotel101-Los Angeles, a planned 622 units and is the first Hotel101 development in the US, is set to include about 20,000 square feet of convention and function facilities.

“As history has taught us, major economic recessions have served as a launchpad for many inspiring entrepreneurs to leap forward. These temporary periods of dislocation and chaos have created rare windows of opportunity for their businesses to strengthen their market grip and enable many of them to become what we know today as the world’s most incredible and durable businesses,” Edgar ‘Injap’ Sia II, chairman of DoubleDragon Corporation, said.

Hotel101-Los Angeles will be situated in the Westlake North District of Los Angeles. It is about five minutes to Downtown LA, Dodger Stadium, and the previous Staples Center and only about a 10-minute drive to Hollywood, about 20 minutes to Beverly Hills, and a 20-minute drive to the Los Angeles International Airport.

In addition to the usual Hotel101 facilities, the property will have an all-day dining restaurant (concessionaire-operated), a Business Center, a Swimming Pool and a Fitness Gym, as well as commercial space for a 24-hour convenience store, a large convention center, and function rooms with breathtaking views of the entire Los Angeles skyline.

Hotel101-Los Angeles completes the first three strategic overseas sites of Hotel101 in Japan, Spain, and the USA. A sales revenue of about USD 183 Million (P10.3 billion) is expected to be generated from the project.

Target near term expansion roadmap for Hotel101 Global Pte. Ltd. is to be in these first 25 countries by 2026, namely: Philippines, Japan, Spain, USA, United Kingdom, UAE, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Mexico, South Korea, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, Turkey, Italy, Germany, France and China.
