Enterprising bashers seem to have found a way to disseminate nasty messages on social media — through quote cards that at first glance appear to be genuine yet are anything but.
Among the recent victims: Joshua Garcia and Sarah Lahbati.
Coming on the heels of her breakup with husband Richard Gutierrez, Lahbati found herself in a controversial position after a quote card surfaced on social media where she was seemingly ditching her in-laws.
“I’m grateful that I married Richard because he’s truly husband material and a father figure,” said the quote. “It seems he got brainwashed, that’s why he changed. I can’t stand the fact that my mother-in-law, you’d think, was not well taken care of by her husband before. My advice to those planning to get married, get to know your future in-laws so you won’t end up like me.”
Lahbati was quick to deny the supposed quote in an Instagram broadcast: “Hey everyone! Just wanted to clear something and this is the last time (hopefully) that I’ll have to do this. Please beware of fake news. I never said this. Hope everyone has a blessed week ahead,” she said.
Garcia found himself in the same predicament when a quote card bearing his name made it appear that he castigated his friend Daniel Padilla for causing Kathryn Bernardo heartaches, leading to the KathNiel breakup.
“Matagal na kitang sinabihan na ayusin mo yung ginagawa mo at yung relasyon niyo ni Kath, pero hindi ka nakinig at tinuloy mo yung mga kalokohang ginagawa niyo ni Andrea,” went the quote card.
Just like Lahbati, Garcia denied the quote attributed to him, calling it “fake news.”
Cathy Garcia-Sampana directs KD Estrada
Working for the first time with director Cathy Garcia-Samapna has afforded KD Estrada the chance to experience her working style, which he said is different from former directors he has worked with.
“During our shooting, ‘yung mga scenes namin with Direk Cathy, she is precise on how I will act and she’s very hands on. She would act for me,” he said during the mediacon following after the screening of Toss Coin, a 12-minute short film and one of the three microfilms featured in Hong Kong in the Lens by Asian Directors produced by CJ ENM Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
The story revolves around the unexpected encounter between busker Kiko, played by Estrada, and vlogger Pia, played by Alexa Ilacad, and the enchanting love story that unfolds amid the vibrant streets of Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong in the Lens By Asian Directors project is part of the 20th Hong Kong Asian Film Festival with two other micro films: Hong Kong, Within Me from Korea, directed by Kang Yun Sung, the Korean director and screenwriter of The Outlaws, the third highest-grossing restricted film in South Korea since 2017; and Zi Mui from Thailand, directed by Nattawut Poonpiriya, the director and screenwriter of Bad Genius, Thailand’s highest-grossing film since 2017.
All three microfilms will be available on tvN Asia and Viu starting 11 December. They will also be aired on A2z and Kapamilya Channel.
‘Material Girl’ Beauty Queen
While her projects are few and far between, this beauty queen seems to have a lot of moolah to buy luxury items even if they’re beyond her means.
That’s allegedly because she has very rich admirers of the DOM kind who can buy what she wants and when she wants it.
So, although bereft of big assignments, she is able to buy high-end bags, shoes and accessories. Her rich-girl, woman-of-the-world posturing is what makes her more appealing to her senior-citizen admirers.
There’s a beeline of such admirers wanting to have trysts with her. But, playful that she is, she is said to make promises she can’t keep. That’s why one congressman who has splurged so much money on her whims and caprices is allegedly hunting her, because she does not make herself available when he asks for a date.
