Coldplay’s ‘Yellow’ hits one billion views ahead of Manila concert

Coldplay’s 2000 hit “Yellow” has reached one billion views on YouTube.

The breakthrough track is the band’s latest song to join the billion-views club. Its other songs that have reached the milestone are “The Scientist,” “Hymn for the Weekend feat. Beyonce,” “Paradise,” “Something Just Like This (feat. The Chainsmokers)” and “Adventure of a Lifetime.”

“Yellow” is part of Coldplay’s debut album Parachute which helped the band win a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album in 2002.

According to Billboard, Coldplay currently has a pair of Hot 100 chart-toppers, these include 2008’s “Viva La Vida” and 2021’s “My Universe” with K-pop group BTS. The band has also four no. one album from 14 career entries, including the multi-week chart-toppers Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008), X&Y (2005), and Ghost Stories (2014).

Coldplay’s latest concert, the renewable energy-powered Music of the Spheres World Tour, is in support of its studio album of the same name. Since its kick-off in 2002, the tour has earned $664.5 billion and has sold over 6.7 million tickets.

Concert promoter Live Nation Philippines is bringing the band for a sold-out two-night concert at the Philippine Arena from 19 to 20 January.

Shuttles for pick-up and drop-off from Ayala Malls Vertis North and SM Mall of Asia will be available. Only ticket holders can purchase shuttle bus vouchers which are exclusively available on smtickets.com. Physical bus tickets must be redeemed from any SM Ticket outlet.

Mall of Asia shuttle departures are in 30-minute intervals between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tickets cost P600. The Vertis North departures will also have 30-minute intervals beginning at 10 a.m. The last bus leaves at 3 p.m. Tickets cost P450.

After the show, shuttles to both Mall of Asia and Vertis North will be at Philippine Arena’s NLET Parking area.
