Welcome the holiday season in a burst of color and style!
As mallgoers returned to shopping malls as a way to destress from the chaos of life and spend precious time with family, friends, and loved ones, Eastwood City has prepared something grand and spectacular as the holiday season is fast approaching.
Recognized as the first-of-its-kind, Eastwood City glowed in the metro last 21 November with Eastwood Holiday Lighscapades — the biggest, brightest, and most immersive light show in the country.
Before Eastwood dazzled in its brightest colors and sound, talented singer-songwriter Janine Teñoso hyped up the crowd through a heartwarming performance.
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte also expressed her enthusiasm with the return of mallgoers after being locked away from home for the last few years.
“I’m really, really happy and grateful to God because when I stepped into Eastwood City, I saw so many people and I realized that it means consumer confidence is back after the dreaded pandemic,” Mayor Belmonte said, expressing her gratitude to locals and tourists who went to witness the grand spectacle.
Reflective, modern Christmas celebration
The 20-foot Christmas tree sculpture, which is the main highlight of the show, is crafted from a NASA-grade MYLAR laminated chromed metal that is affixed to a rotating frame. This reflective creation highlights technology, innovation, and creativity as it illuminates Eastwood Mall Open Park and its surrounding structures and open spaces.
The reflective and modern centerpiece is enhanced by an immersive light and sound show by John Batalla, a renowned lighting designer who has worked for TV, theatre, and live events. It would also showcase a medley of upbeat and buoyant songs curated by Arvy Dimaculangan, a local theatre sound designer.
The light and music show would entice the crowd to feel the true spirit of Christmas as they move forward despite the uncertainties and challenges that life brings.
“Eastwood Holiday Lightscapades exemplifies the beauty in diversity and the many beautiful things and possibilities we can create together when we all converge at a single point. The tree is a reflection of our hope for the season, the renewal that it brings, and the joys etched on each of our faces as we celebrate the best season in the Philippines,” said Graham Coates, the head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls.
Eastwood Holiday Lightscapades would run every 20 minutes from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily, with three sets of stunning lights and sound shows lasting for five minutes each. It will run until 27 December.
