The observance of Women’s Month was first established in the United States in 1987 due to the early lobbying of the National Women’s History Alliance. This was to coincide with International Women’s Day on 8 March.

Milagros Castillo Espina is an educator par excellence who has gone through the ranks, having served as English high school teacher, all the way to the dean of a graduate school. She is an advocate of public speaking and plays a hand in the tourism and hotel management curriculum for nearly six decades.
