If there’s one thing that best describes Gen X stars today, it is their being audacious.
Xyriel Manabat and Andrea Brillantes are the perfect examples of this, as they articulated their willingness to lock lips with each other in a GL (Girls Love) project.
Manabat was asked if she’s willing to do more challenging roles such as a girl-to-girl romance, given that two characters in Senior High — Tim, played by Zaijan Jaranilla, and Poch, played by Miggy Jimenez, are figuring prominently on social media because of their BL story in the series.
“Ako po, opo… Feeling ko, kung mag-on cam kissing scene ako, gusto ko talaga sa babae kasi feeling ko mas komportable ako kapag ganoon. Feeling ko walang ilangan, less issue and less hassle. Experience siya eh. Parang fulfilling po siya for an actress (I feel if I will do on-cam kissing scene, I want to do it with a girl because I think I will be more comfortable with that. I feel there will be no awkwardness, less issue and less hassle. It’s an experience. [A role like that] would be fulfilling for an actress),” she said.
When asked who she wants to do it with, Manabat did go around the bush, saying, “Basta, matalik ko siyang kaibigan. Tumatawa siya ngayon. Kinikilig siya ngayon. Kasi gusto niya ‘yung ganoong role (She’s a close friend. She’s laughing now. She is being giddy now. It’s because she wants that kind of role).”
Unable to contain herself, Brillantes chimed in and said, “I mean, pansin ko lang kasi, there’s a lot of BL series now. Hindi pa po masyadong madami sa GL (I noticed that while a lot of BL series are out there, there isn’t much for GL). If ever naman po, I will be comfortable doing it with my friend.”
Senior High, which has amassed over two billion views on TikTok, is approaching its finale that will finally reveal the most intriguing secret that has tormented the lives of Northford students: Who is Luna’s killer?
Don’t miss Senior High’s “ender to remember” finale on 19 January, 9:30 p.m. on the Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, TV5, iWantTFC and Kapamilya Online Live on ABS-CBN Entertainment’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.
Nora Aunor shines in ‘Pieta’
Adolf Alix’s new movie Pieta offers Nora Aunor once again displaying her greatness in acting.
As Rebecca, the mom of Alfred Vargas’ Isaac character, Aunor plays her role of a senior citizen mom suffering from dementia with so much pathos and nuance.
Aunor’s focused performance is easily discernible when the camera pans to her blind eyes. So thorough is her acting that everyone will believe she’s really a blind woman.
Her line delivery is natural and realistic, which adds to her convincing portrayal. And when she sings a few lines of a popular Kapampangan song, she makes sure she’s always in the zone.
Also giving great performances are Gina Alajar as Aunor’s best friend, Jaclyn Jose whose two scenes really make a mark and Miggy Jimenez whose less-than-a-minute exposure leaves a lasting impression.
Pieta is so undeserving of the MMFF snub. It is to us a travesty of the highest order, as the movie is very festival-worthy and Aunor gives a performance that only a National Artist like her can deliver.
