Laufey to hold concert with Manila Philharmonic Orchestra in May

Grammy-nominated singer Laufey is set to come back to Manila in May.

On 8 January, Karpos Multimedia announced that Laufey is set to hold Laufey: A Night at the Symphony with the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra at the PICC Plenary Hall on 28 May.

“She had us bewitched from the very start,” Karpos Multimedia wrote on its social media pages. “Witness an enchanting night with @laufey as she makes her much-awaited return to Manila, this time with the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra!”

Tickets for Laufey’s concert will range from P2,750 to P5,990. Concert attendees will have to follow a semi-formal or formal attire dress code as the concert will take place at the PICC.

Laufey is an Icelandic-Chinese singer who performed as a cello soloist with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra at 15. She also became a finalist in Iceland’s Got Talent (2014) and a semi-finalist in The Voice Iceland (2015).

The jazz singer released her first debut album, Everything I Know About Love (2022), while her sophomore album Bewitched (2023), landed her her first Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album nomination at the 2024 Grammys, where she was nominated alongside Liz Callaway, Rickie Lee Jones, Pentatonix and Bruce Springsteen.

Last year was a fantastic year for Laufey’s music. In 2023, she garnered over 700 million streams on the popular streaming platform Spotify.

This is not the first time that Laufey will perform in Manila. In May 2023, the 24-year-old singer held a sold-out show at the Filinvest Tent, where she stated that it was her “biggest concert ever.”

“2000 smiling faces in Manila. I’ll never forget this moment,” said Laufey in her Instagram post back in May, adding that the experience was more magical than she could have imagined.

Artist presale for Laufey: A Night at The Symphony with the Manila Philharmonic Festival will take place from 10 January to 11 January, while the general on-sale will be on 12 January at 10 a.m.
