Prepare to see more of Kaila Estrada’s acting prowess next year.
The young actress, who became a trending topic after her acclaimed stint in the TV series Linlang, is set to star in a new film, Pilak, with her father, John Estrada.
On 19 December, Star Magic revealed the good news, sharing photos of the film’s story conference which took place on 16 December.
The movie, to be directed by Elaine “Alex” Crisostomo, will hit cinemas nationwide in July 2024, according to Star Magic.
Apart from the daughter-and-father tandem, the cast also includes veteran actors Jackie Lou Blanco and Alma Concepcion.
Born to ex-couple John Estrada and Janice de Belen, 27-year-old Kaila made her first
on-screen appearance in the mystery-drama series Viral Scandal in 2021.
She was catapulted to mainstream fame when she was cast in the thriller-drama series Linlang with Kim Chiu, Paulo Avelino and JM de Guzman — and acted the daylights out of her part.
Her performance as a feisty wife in the series landed her in the trending list on X (formerly Twitter) in November.
She is currently starring in the romantic-comedy series Can’t Buy Me Love.
In an interview with Preview, Estrada acknowledged that being the daughter of two popular actors is a privilege, but she is willing to work her way to the top.
“I am trying to create a name for myself, and I’m trying to establish myself. I’m trying to show people that I have something to offer other than just being a nepo baby. I’m trying my best to carve my own path,” she said.
