Sophia Laforteza, the sole Filipina participant in HYBE and Geffen Records’ talent search, The Debut: Dream Academy, has clinched a coveted spot in the upcoming girl group, KATSEYE, set to make its highly anticipated debut in 2024.
The revelation of KATSEYE’s lineup, which also includes emerging talents Daniela, Lara and Megan from the United States, Manon from Switzerland and Yoonchae from South Korea, was made during the grand finale event streamed live on the HYBE YouTube channel.
Sophia’s inclusion in KATSEYE marks a historic moment as she becomes the first Filipino artist under the prestigious South Korean agency, HYBE. Throughout the series, fans exercised their influence by voting on platforms such as Weverse and TikTok, propelling Sophia to the top spot as one of the show’s fan favorites.
Expressing her gratitude in a previous post, Sophia shared her dreams of becoming an idol and extended heartfelt thanks to her dedicated supporters.
Managing powerhouse global artists, such as BTS, Tomorrow X Together, Seventeen, Enhypen, NewJeans and more, HYBE stands as the agency behind this groundbreaking venture.
Geffen Records, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group, is currently home to acclaimed artists, such as Olivia Rodrigo, Alesso, Kali Uchis, and Marshmello.
