Rei Anicoche Tan: Doyenne of beauty, love and light

Up close and personal, Beautéderm founder and chairman Rei Anicoche Tan is no Miranda Priestly. Nobody becomes a nervous wreck by the mere mention of her arrival. Even if Beautederm is currently one of the leading beauty wellness brands in the country, there is no Anna Wintour ice queen demeanor and façade.

Tan, who also owns BlancPro, BeautéHaus, Beauté Beanery, A-List Avenue and AKStudios, possesses a lightness about her, and this emanates from the fact that she is guided by love. Love is the main ingredient for the success of her brand. Love, that makes her sincere and compassionate, is evident in the manner she deals and interacts with her celebrity endorsers, franchisees, her team and media people. Love drives her to create and develop products that deliver the essence, and not just the promise, of being beautiful.

In Tan’s light, love, beauty and wellness campaign, what she wants every Filipino who patronizes her experience is what it feels becoming and how one becomes beautiful, with the right frame of mind and heart, of course, and head-to-toe products that are safe and effective and brings the most desired of results.

Clad in a designer jacket, white tank top and tulip cut skirt during her recent birthday celebration, Ma’am Rhea (her nickname) expressed gratitude to her celebrity endorsers and media friends for their support.

“My heart is full. I am so blessed to have such precious friends, family and colleagues. They really made my day special,” Tan said in a speech. “My sincerest thanks to all my media friends who attended my birthday celebration. This is my tribute to all of you. It’s definitely been a birthday to remember. I am forever grateful.”

Celebrities in attendance during the shindig were this generation’s movie queen Bea Alonzo, first-time mommy dearest Maja Salvador-Nunez, Gomburza lead actor Enchong Dee, Kapuso actor Rayver Cruz, Sparkle royalty Sanya Lopez, Nag-aapoy na Damdamin’s femme fatale Jane Oineza, and seasoned actress Glydel Mercado.

Also present in the celebration were Thia Thomalla, Kakai Bautista, Ysabel Ortega, Thou Reyes, DJ JhaiHo, DJ Cha Cha, KitKat, Ynez Veneracion, Maricel Morales, Rochelle Barrameda, Jimwell Stevens, VG Alex Castro, Sunshine Garcia, Anne Feo, councilor Ervic Vijandre, Darla Suller, Sherilyn Reyes-Tan, Ryle Santiago, Gillian Vicencio and Luke Mejares.

Making her natal day more memorable was the fact that her beauty empire is in its Opal year.

“Aside from my birthday, we are also celebrating our 14th anniversary,” Tan declared. “I am grateful to our consumers. We are a brand that goes beyond what you can see. Beautéderm gives confidence, helps people, and shifts lives. Because of the consumers support, patuloy kaming magpapaganda at magpapabago ng buhay.”

Tan credited God for the inspiration and guidance, her more trusted team, her employees, franchisees and everyone who contributed in the growth and success of the company. It was not an easy ride. Blood, sweat, tears, passion and faith are what she believed the reasons for the brand’s triumph, and the emphasis on finding and trusting not just the right, but good people, who just like her know that to become successful, one must become a good person first.

Tan’s charisma and graciousness never overwhelm. As the hours of her birthday ticked, the smile on her face was genuine. Her eyes twinkled and sparkled as she looked and talked to the person in front or beside her. She gave the tightest of embraces. Her laughter and voice were pleasant. She has a way of making you feel comfortable. And the maternal vibe did not smother; it made you feel counted, cared for and important.

“As we age, we become wiser and better. We also become more aware of our surroundings and the reality that not everyone will applaud us but we should power through anyway. Show them the power of authenticity and humility. And the takeaway in this celebration is that you show up sincerely,” ended Tan, Beautederm’s doyenne of beauty, love and light.
