It’s already 2024, so here’s our list of New Year’s wishes for some celebrities who made 2023 a year of controversial breakups, heartaches and also triumphs.
Dirty linen
When Sharon Cuneta posted a family photo that showed her husband Kiko Pangilinan cropped from the neck up, it unwittingly displayed an unpalatable side of the Megastar. Her public washing of her family’s dirty linen via cryptic posts and louder-than-loud pronouncements in her interviews are indicative of her I-don’t-care-about-your-feelings mindset. It was like she was purposely shaming Pangilinan with her uncalled-for action.
This year, we wish Cuneta would veer away from becoming a victim of her own emotions. There are things better left unsaid and kept a secret.
Best defense
Despite a not-so-okay situation on the home front, Sarah Lahbati is keeping her chin up. She keeps her sanity and morality intact by not barking back at dogs who are yelping.
This year, we wish Lahbati more projects to keep her busy body at its best, and to continue parrying off intrigues with the best defense: Deafening silence.
It’s raining men
From Grae Fernandez to Seth Fedelin to Ricci Rivero to Daniel Padilla, Andrea Brillantes proved that it’s raining men in her life. But with all of these cutesy, hunky men of the world for her picking, Brillantes still ended the year a single lady.
Our wish for her is to get a man who would stand up for her, shenanigans and all, and never be bothered by all of it anyway.
Nothing compares to you
Kathryn Bernardo has truly become in a league of her own. Her I-can-live-without-you demeanor rinses away her fragile persona, allowing her to emerge a new woman after bravely breaking up with her boyfriend of 11 years, Daniel Padilla.
We wish for Bernardo more of that genteel but resolute demeanor to become the woman that she wants to be.
Someone like you
Kris Aquino has lately been quiet as far as her life is concerned. She hasn’t talked at length about herself, her illness or anything romantic — quite very unKris. That’s something for someone like her.
With that, we wish Aquino absolute peace and contentment as she heals and recovers from her medical condition.
Say a little prayer
With a very negative image, Daniel Padilla needs to say a little prayer as far as his career is concerned, now that Kathryn Bernardo has broken up with him.
For Padilla, our wish is luck for his career, which might go haywire this year owing to his
not-so-good image as an offshoot of the KathNiel split.
Maine event
Since Maine Mendoza’s wedding to actor-congressman Arjo Atayde, fans have been waiting for something from the radiant couple: A baby. If that happens this year, it would be a Maine event.
Here’s wishing Mendoza would soon be cuddling her and Atayde’s bundle of joy.
Vision of love
Ellen Adarna’s vision of love seems to be in contrast with that of her husband Derek Ramsay. She detested Ramsay’s public disclosure that she had a miscarriage. She doesn’t want such things publicly revealed.
We wish Adarna to get a better understanding of what relationship is all about: Trust. Your man knows what he’s saying, and in the end, telling the truth is liberating and empowering.
My Juan and only
Cedrick Juan’s best actor win in the Metro Manila Film Festival is not only a personal triumph, but also the victory of theater actors. His more-than-convincing portrayal of Padre Jose Burgos in GomBurZa reinforces the idea that some of the best actors come from theater.
We wish more projects for this actor who displayed in great abundance his professional experience and emotional maturity in tackling a heavyweight role.
