The much-ballyhooed upcoming Parokya ni Edgar musical has opened auditions for its cast.
On 11 September, NWR Musicals announced on social media its search for theater actors between the ages 18 to 50 years old who will be a part of the musical titled Buruguduystunstugudunstuy, which opens in 2024.
“Need mong career-in ang pagkanta ng any Parokya ni Edgar song in 16 bars dahil hindi pwedeng trip-trip lang as we are looking for the next theater actors who will make the #‘Buruguduystunstugudunstuy’ come to life!” the announcement read.
Parokya ni Edgar lead vocalist Chito Miranda also revealed the good news himself on NWR Musicals’ social media accounts.
“Buruguduystunstugudunstuy: Ang Parokya ni Edgar Musical,’ abangan ninyo [sa] 2024” Miranda said, with an instrumental track of the band’s hit song “Bagsakan” accompanying the video announcement.
A three-day in-person audition will take place on 16 to 18 October. Those who pass the initial screening will return for a final callback audition on 24 to 26 October.
Buruguduystunstugudunstuy is Parokya ni Edgar’s sophomore album released in 1997. The album featured some of the band’s most popular hits such as “Harana,” “Don’t Touch My Birdie” and “Silvertoes.”
The Parokya ni Edgar musical production was hinted at during Ang Huling El Bimbo’s final curtain call in July where the cast sang “Harana” — one of Parokya ni Edgar’s most popular songs.
