Social media superstar and Batang Quiapo mainstay Ivana Alawi made the day of a male fan who had posted an amusing message online that caught the star’s attention.
Alawi went out of her way to meet the guy in Pandi, Bulacan.
“Ang layo ng biyahe namin pero happy ako na na-meet kita (Our trip took so long but I am happy to meet you), Alawi told the guy named Armando.
“Mas happy kami (We’re happier), Armando gushed as he gave the actress a bouquet of flowers.
The male fan could not believe his luck at meeting Alawi in person.
“Totoo ba ito? Parang hindi ako makapaniwala na si Ivana Alawi. Kurutin n’yo nga ako! (Is this true? I can’t believe that this is Ivana Alawi. Pinch me please!), he said.
Armando became even more ecstatic when Alawi handed him a surprise gift: A cool P50,000. Alawi said it was her way of showing appreciation to him for all the support.
Hurt ‘yaarn?’
After being ridiculed when cager Ricci Rivero admitted that she and beauty queen-turned-councilor from Laguna Leren Mae Bautista are already a couple, Bautista unloaded her disappointment over the bashing on her Facebook page.
“Damage has been done and hurtful words have been said that scarred me deeply, but it won’t stop me from doing what is right,” she declared.
“We rise by lifting others. Not the other way around,” she added, noting that “at the end of the day, people will know, the TRUTH shall prevail.”
A photo she posted on her Facebook page came with the caption: “A beautiful truth about life is that for every person trying to dim your light, there’s another drawn to your glow.”
Bautista and Rivero drew flak after making their relationship public, an offshoot of the initial vehement denials they both issued when rumors and photos first surfaced showing them together at a time when Rivero was still in a relationship with actress Andrea Brillantes.
‘Lait’ to death: ‘Badjao Girl’ claps back
Former Pinoy Big Brother teen housemate Rita Gaviola did a live selling session on Facebook recently, but one that ended in frustration for her as she was bashed and belittled by a number of viewers.
But Gaviola, who rose to fame as the “Badjao Girl,” was not taking the bashing sitting down. She clapped back at her tormentors in an emotional video where she said:
“Nilalait nyo ako na babalik ako sa pamamalimos. Kahit bumalik ako sa pamamalimos ko, proud ako, naghirap ako na dumaan ako sa ganu’ng proseso (You’re belittling me and telling me to go back to begging. Even if I do beg again, I am proud that I went through hardship).
“Sinasabi ko sa inyo, lait-laitin n’yo ang pagiging Badjao ko, proud ako (I am telling you, you can mock my being a Badjao, but I am proud of who I am).
“Palibhasa kasi hindi nila nararanasan ‘yung hirap kung paano mamalimos sa kalsada. Tapos sasabihan ‘nyo ako na bumalik ako sa pamamalimos, na bagay ako doon. Talaga ba? Baka hindi ninyo alam guys, grabe ang experience ko sa pamamalimos makaahon lang kami sa hirap (These bashers never experienced the hardship of begging on the streets. Then I am told to go back to begging, that I would fit right in there. Really? Maybe you guys don’t how hard my experience was just so our family could lift ourselves up from poverty).”
Bravo, Rita!
