The Metro Manila Film Festival announced the initial lineup of official entries for 2023 on Monday, 10 July.
The lineup consists of Sharon Cuneta and Alden Richards’ A Mother and A Son, Matteo Guidicelli and Cristine Reyes’ Penduko, Beauty Gonzalez and Derek Ramsay’s (K)ampon and Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes’ Rewind.
These entries were chosen based on their synopses and scripts. The final list of entries, to be announced in October, will be chosen based on the finished films.
The 49th Metro Manila Film Festival is highly anticipated and widely supported, receiving a record number of script submissions this year.
MMFF concurrent acting chair Atty. Don Artes said that a total of 26 entries from 32 production companies were submitted for this year’s festival.
The MMFF is an annual film festival held in Metro Manila that runs from December 25 through New Year’s Day and continues into the first weekend of January the following year, with an exclusive focus on Filipino films.
