Good news for movie enthusiasts! Seven out of 10 movies from the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival will be available for streaming on Netflix.
The popular streaming platform announced that several MMFF movies will be released starting this month until June.
First on the list is Rewind, which is currently the country’s highest-grossing film of all time. The romantic family drama starring Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes can be enjoyed just in time for the upcoming Holy Week break on Monday, 25 March.
Three MMFF films will be out on Netflix in April: Pokwang and Eugene Domingo’s comedy Becky and Badette on the 4th; the historical film GomBurZa, starring Dante Rivero, Enchong Dee and MMFF Best Actor Cedric Juan, on the 9th; and Derek Ramsay and Beauty Gonzalez’s horror flick Kampon on the 18th.
Then by June, three more MMFF films are slated to be released: Sharon Cuneta and Alden Richards’ starrer Family of Two (A Mother and Son Story) on the 1st; the action-packed film Pedro Penduko, with Matteo Guidicelli in the title role, on the 7th; and Piolo Pascual’s thriller Mallari, in which he plays three characters, on the 21st.
The three other MMFF entries have yet to be announced for streaming on Netflix. These are Vilma Santos and Christopher de Leon’s mature love story When I Met You in Tokyo; Christian Bables and the late veteran actress Jaclyn Jose’s comedy Broken Hearts Trip; and Alessandra de Rossi’s heartwarming family drama Firefly, which won 2023 MMFF’s Best Picture.
