Maris Racal set to shine brighter with ‘Sunshine’

Maris Racal is basking in the back-to-back success of her projects Simula sa Gitna and Can’t Buy Me Love — and now she’s up for more with her upcoming film Sunshine.

In a recent Instagram post, Racal shared how Antoinette Jadaone, the director behind Sunshine, pitched the story to her in 2020.

She said yes right away after reading the script, revealed Racal. “Iyak ako nang iyak after ko mabasa ang script (at kahit na ilang ulit ko siyang basahin, iyak parin ako haha) (I cried profusely when I read the script, and I still cried even after repeat readings).

Ito yung project na magiging proud ako na nagawa ko dahil sa sobrang ganda ng mensahe. Thank you direk [at] ako napili mo (This is one project I will be proud of because of its beautiful message. Thank you, Direk, for choosing me),” she added.

For her part, Jadaone expressed her gratitude toward the Film Development Council of the Philippines for the grant the film received. The director’s last directorial work in film was Fangirl (2020).

Racal is currently starring in the drama series Can’t Buy Me Love alongside Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano. Despite her character being a supporting part, viewers have noted her strong chemistry with co-star Anthony Jennings.

Recently, the 26-year-old actress dominated social media following a set of memes she posted on 4 January. The photos included her sitting down while writing notes in her journal, playfully captioned “studious.”

“I hate twitterrrr,” Racal quipped on her Instagram post while reacting to some of the posts she had seen. Her fans were happy to lap up the star’s display of casualness and approachability online.
