The old Liza Soberano can’t come to the phone right now!”
Yes, Liza Soberano’s first highly anticipated Hollywood movie Lisa Frankenstein will be officially released in cinemas on 9 February in the United States.
Focus Features, the film studio behind Lisa Frankestein, dropped the film’s premiere date along with a 20-second trailer.
“It’s giving unliving. LISA FRANKENSTEIN only in theaters 2.9.24,” the post read.
The film follows an unpopular, misunderstood high schooler and a handsome Victorian corpse who gets another shot at life. After a series of misadventures, the two embark on a horrific journey to seek love and happiness.
The trailer also features Kathryn Newton, who plays the titular character, standing behind a tanning machine which awakens the deceased character of Cole Sprouse.
The film is written by multi-award winning writer Diablo Cody, who received critical acclaim for her screenwriting debut film Juno in 2007, who won the Academy Award and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Award for Best Original Screenplay.
Meanwhile, the film is directed by Zelda Williams, which turns out to be her feature-length directorial debut. Williams is the only daughter of the late comedian Robin Williams with his Filipino-American ex-wife and film producer Marsha Garces.
Apart from Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse, Henry Eikenberry, Joe Chrest and Carla Gugino will also star in the upcoming American horror comedy film.
Through the international distributor Universal Pictures, Filipino fans and movie enthusiasts may have the opportunity to watch Soberano’s Hollywood debut on the big screen a week before Valentine’s — a thrilling sweet treat for fans looking forward to seeing the actress after years of waiting.
