Liza Soberano, with her undeniable acting prowess over the past decade, solidifies her status as a scene-stealer and an emerging Hollywood actress worth keeping an eye on.

Soberano has gained praises for her Hollywood debut in Lisa Frankenstein, where she plays a high school cheerleader named Taffy.

Among those who lauded her performance are her Lisa Frankenstein director Zelda Williams and her fellow co-stars Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse.

“I really wanted someone who could play someone so earnest and sweet and loving, and everyone was kind of playing it very mean no matter what notes I gave them,” Williams said.

Williams added: “She’s most people’s favorite part of this whole movie.”

Meanwhile, Newton and Sprouse applauded Soberano’s acting skills and professionalism.

“I love Liza. She is just a gift to the world, this girl. She’s the sweetest girl I’ve ever met in my whole life, and there’s nobody that could play this role [Taffy] except her,” Newton said in a recent interview. “Working with her has been a lesson because she’s so professional… This girl cries on command, she is funny on command, and she’s always perfect. Working with her is so much fun.”

“I think she’s incredible. It was very obvious that Liza had cut her teeth and really become like an Olympian, like a professional, very quick and was able to conquer emotions and skills within scenes that would have taken a long time, and it’s sweet and it’s not mean,” Sprouse said.

In addition, highly acclaimed filmmaker Joe Russo, the director behind the blockbuster film Avengers, saw great potential in the Filipina actress on X.

“Movies like LISA FRANKENSTEIN can be great vehicles to break new stars, and @zeldawilliams and Diablo Cody found a superstar in Liza Soberano, who steals every scene she’s in as Lisa’s step-sister, Taffy,” Russo wrote.

Former onscreen partner and real-life boyfriend Enrique Gil affirmed his support for the 26-year-old actress while also dispelling breakup rumors.

“We’re happy, we’re just really busy. I think we just, you know, realized that in life parang we shouldn’t always be just centered around each other. Alam mo ‘yon, we can do more, grow more in our own paths, and achieve more… It just makes us better,” Gil said in an interview, adding that they have shot promotional videos of each other, as the actor is also slated to make a comeback film titled I Am Not Big Bird.

Lisa Frankenstein is a horror-comedy that follows a misunderstood high schooler who embarks on a murderous adventure with a Victorian corpse that gets a second chance in life.

Lisa Frankenstein opens in cinemas on 7 February.
