In celebration of National Women’s Month, Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda presented the artistic brilliance and musical mastery of renowned Filipina pianist Cecile Licad in a night of classical music at the Metropolitan Theater Manila.
This special musical presentation features Licad’s rendition of Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s “Pianos Concerto No. 1 in B-Flat Minor, Op. 23,” an empowering masterpiece of powerful and virtuosic piano writing, dramatic intensity, and heart-swooning melodies.
“This is truly a triumphant night to once again stage the artistry of Filipinos when it comes to the music industry. Cecile Licad is an undying testament to the Philippines’ contribution to the world of classical music, which has truly inspired a generation of Filipino musical geniuses who continue to shape and advance the country’s rich arts and culture scene,” Legarda conveyed.
The concert is supported by the Office of Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra Society, Inc. (PPOSI).
It was mentioned to Legarda by her long-time friend, the late Zenaida “Nedy” Tantoco, a true patroness of music and the arts, who, like Legarda, is passionate about promoting the Philippines’ rich and diverse culture and arts.
“Our dedication to promoting the unparalleled talent of Filipino artists is a testament to our enduring legacy. This event underscores the essence of Filipino creativity and highlights our unwavering passion for nurturing world-class talent,” said Legarda.
