The Johann Strauss Society of the Philippines fellowship event will be held today Thursday, 14 September 2023, at the North Forbes Park Pavilion.
Themed “South Pacific Night,” it will feature a program of nostalgic songs and dances from the Broadway musical based on James Michener’s book Tales of the South Pacific.
Attendees are invited to come in their most colorful flower-printed attires and enjoy dancing to the live music of the Fabulous band. Prizes will be awarded for the most authentic outfits. Marissa Fenton and Lilibeth Campos are co-chairs of the event.
JSSP chairman Consul General of Monaco Fortune Ledesma and JSSP president Olga Severino Martel head the organization, which aims to promote the love and development of music and dance as well as nurture the close relationship between the Philippines and the Republic of Austria by propagating its music and culture.
The society also extends financial assistance to support projects of the Cultural Center of the Philippines and music scholars, as well as several charitable organizations.
