REGINE Velasquez

Regine Velasquez, Pilita Corrales, Moira Dela Torre, Ena Mori and the girl group BINI have been selected as recipients of the Billboard Philippines Women in Music awards.

The announcement was made across Billboard PH’s social media accounts on 15 March. However, one more artist is yet to be revealed for their influence and outstanding contributions to the music industry.

Velasquez, hailed as Asia’s songbird, is set to become the first honoree of the Music Powerhouse award. Some of her biggest hits include “Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka,” “Dadalhin” and “Narito Ako.” Her remarkable discography, spanning nearly four decades, is a testament to her longstanding career marked by multiple accolades and recognitions she has earned.

Corrales, also known as Asia’s Queen of Songs, will be recognized with the Icon Title. With over 100 albums, the 84-year-old singer is known for her timeless vocal style and unique renditions, with her back arching, that made her a household name for different generations.

Today’s popular OPM singer, Dela Torre, is set to receive the Hitmaker award. Known for her hugot-inspired songs like “Paubaya” and “Tagpuan,” the record-breaking female artist redefined a generation of listeners through her unique songwriting and storytelling.

The singer-songwriter is also the country’s most streamed Filipina artist for seven consecutive years on Spotify.

Mori is a Filipino-Japanese pop artist who is slowly but surely making her way into the music industry with her elegant sound that captures the attention of global music audiences. The recipient of 2023 Awit Award for Album of the Year just released her newest single, “Heartache Generation.”

Finally, the nation’s girl group BINI is set to be honored with the Rising Star award. The popular P-pop girl group has already established itself in the industry with stellar vocal prowess and quirky and eccentric discography, topped with their fun and down-to-earth personalities that make them loved by the masses.

BINI is known for the viral songs “Karera,” “Pantropiko” and the recently released “Salamin, Salamin,” the girl group is about to flourish more and make new milestones.

Earlier this month, popstar royalty Sarah Geronimo became the first Filipina to be awarded the Global Force Award by Billboard in a ceremony held in Los Angeles, California.

One more artist is yet to be named for the top prize of Billboard PH’s Woman of the Year.
