Fans can surely expect these elements for the second season of House of the Dragon: A bloodier war, and more dragons.
This much is clear from the teaser that HBO Max on 3 December (Philippine Time), announcing that the new season will be out “Summer 2024.”
The one-and-a-half teaser showed the series’ key characters led by the dueling Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen and King Aegon II, an assembly of soldiers dying and being burnt to death and an enthralling shot of two dragons facing off on a beach.
Before the trailer drop, HBO released first-look posters for Emma D’Arcy (Rhaenyra Targaryen) and Olivia Cooke (Alicent Hightower). Apart from these two actresses, Matt Smith (Daemon Targaryen), Eve Best (Princess Rhaenys Targaryen), Rhys Ilfans (Otto Hightower) and more are reprising their roles.
The official teaser garnered over four million views a day after its release.
House of the Dragon is based on the popular fantasy novel Fire and Blood, written by American novelist George R.R Martin. Set 172 years before the events of Game of Thrones, the show delves deeper into the Targaryen dynasty’s rise to power.
The Game of Thrones prequel was a much-garlanded series, garnering three BAFTAs, a Golden Trailer award, a Golden Globe and eight Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series. It ran beginning August 2022 with 10 episodes.
