‘Here Comes the Bride’ turns into a musical next year

Here Comes the Bride, the iconic comedy film of 2010, is finally getting its much-awaited musical adaptation in 2025.

Director Chris Martinez will be adapting the comedy flick in an exciting new production titled Here Comes The Musical. The renowned director, who won a Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature in 2013, is known for directing the films Temptation Island (2011), The Gifted (2014), Ang Babae sa Septic Tank 2: Forever is Not Enough (2016) and more.

Here Comes the Bride is a 2010 comedy film that revolves around the life of five individuals whose souls switched during the solar eclipse, leading to their involvement in a freak car accident.

Angelica Panganiban, Eugene Domingo, John Lapus, Tuesday Vargas and Jaime Fabregas star in the comedy film.

In 2011, Panganiban won Comedy Actress of the Year, while Lapus secured the title of Comedy Actor of the Year at the GMMSF Box-Office Entertainment Awards. Additionally, Martinez bagged the Most Popular Screenwriter by the same awards-giving body.

The movie is also a domestic success, garnering over P100 million during its fifth week in theaters.
Its sequel, Here Comes the Groom, was released as one of the official entries of the 2023 Metro Manila Summer Film Festival. Domingo returned to the sequel with a new role and was joined by Enchong Dee, Maris Racal, Keempee de Leon, Gladys Reyes and Awra Briguela.

The sequel won several accolades, including Third Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (de Leon), Best Supporting Actress (KaladKaren) and Special Jury Prize at the 2023 Metro Manila Summer Film Festival.

Further details about the upcoming musical, such as official casting and ticketing details, are yet to be announced.
