Healing, moving on and love renewed

She used to be the most flippant TV host. Today, Kris Aquino is the bravest mother of two sons, possibly the most prayerful, too.

She’s praying for miraculous healing and seriously pleading to everyone in her latest Instagram posts to pray for a longer and functioning life for herself.

She managed to do a Zoom interview with Boy Abunda a few days ago in Abunda’s Fast Talk on GMA 7.

Aquino has a long, tear-jerking narrative about her condition on Instagram. On Fast Talk, she told Abunda that it is to him that she is entrusting her two sons.

Let’s do it. Let us all pray for Kris Aquino. A longer healed life may move her to be like her mother Cory Aquino who lived and died for the country. God can extend her life for marvelous reasons. She may or may not go back to television and film.

On IG, the ex -TV host wrote that her doctors classify her condition as “an autoimmune mixed connective tissue disease.”

Her haywire body systems have also produced what the doctors told her is a “crest syndrome,” which she describes as scary because it could make her heart stop pumping blood any time.

Yes, let’s all pray for a miracle for Kris Aquino.

Now we know why actor Daniel Padilla broke into an impromptu mini-concert in Siargao some weeks ago while vacationing there with two of his sisters after Kathryn Bernardo froze their romance of 11 years: he was casually preparing for music projects with Ely Buendia, ex-frontman of the 90s band Eraserhead.

“I’ll make music first… I’ll have something with Ely Buendia. May mga gagawin (There will be stuff to do). Secret pa. Secret muna (A secret for now),” Padilla teased in an interview with MJ Felipe for ABS-CBN News. Felipe was the only reporter allowed to interview Padilla at his contract renewal with the media company-content supplier held a few days ago.

The actor’s loyal fans surely still remember that their idol is also an artist of ABS-CBN’s Star Records since 2012. His first output was an eponymous EP (extended play) album released on 27 May 2012 in the Philippines in CD and digital formats. It also became available on iTunes, Amazon and the Philippines’ official music downloading site, My Music Store Philippines, same day of physical distribution release.

The album sold 8,000 copies in just a week of release and received a gold certificate from the Philippine Association of Recording Industries. The album turned platinum (15,000 copies sold) after a month. By February of 2013, it was certified double platinum.

Only six songs made up the EP album whose carrier single was Rivermaya’s

“Hinahanap-Hanap Kita” which was also used as one of the theme songs of the ABS-CBN’s TV series Princess and I, headlined by Padilla himself with Bernardo.

After four months, Star Records released the second single ‘’Prinsesa,’’ which had a music video. The other cuts in the EP album were the Vic Sotto-Joey de Leon ditty “Paniwalaan Mo,” Orient Pearl’s “Pagsubok,” Iaxe’s “Ako’y Sa ‘Yo, Ikaw ay Akin,” and Adam Sandler’s “Grow Old With You.”

In all, until 2016, Padilla has released three studio albums, one extended play, and one compilation album. He also contributed nine guest singles in other artists’ albums, and seven soundtracks.

His debut album DJP won Best Selling Album of the Year in Awit Awards for two consecutive years in 2013 and 2014 with 40,00 copies sold, making it the highest-selling album of his career. His second studio album I Heart You was certified double platinum by PARI, while his third studio album I Feel Good was certified gold. In December 2016, Padilla released his first compilation album, DJ Greatest Hits.

So don’t be shocked that Bernardo’s ex is practically bragging about doing music projects with the Ely Buendia.

And, oh, in that interview with Felipe, the actor also confirmed previously announced film projects, including Jerrold Tarog’s The Guest with John Arcilla, and Dan Villegas’ Nang Mapagod si Kamatayan with Zanjoe Marudo.

The latter is a comedy adaptation of National Artist Ricky Lee’s short story of the same title, the screenplay written by Carmi Raymundo.

One project that now appears to be in limbo is Padilla’s reunion movie with Kathryn, which would have been directed by Cathy Garcia, who helmed the pair’s last film together, The Hows of Us from 2018.

And this is a big deal: Padilla also teased a possible project with the “Diamond Star” herself Maricel Soriano, though discussions are still in the pipeline.

The actor-singer’s last film appearance was the award-winning movie Kun Maupay Man It Panahon from 2021 with Charo Santos-Concio and Rans Rifol.

Gen Zs flocked to the mysteriously titled concert ILYSM at the Araneta Coliseum on 13 February. They screamed a lot and scampered from their seats towards the performers who bothered to go down to the audience. The loudest screams and surge towards a singer were for the ascetic and monk-looking Arthur Nery and the Alamat boyband whose silver-sequined outfits glimmered the whole time.

Also big hits that night were two Janines: Tenoso and Berdin. But almost equally adulated were the lookers Adie and Rob Deniel who mostly sang their romantic compositions that gained millions of plays and likes on the digital platforms. The two young men may even be more adored as actors in romcoms spiced up by their goo-goo-eyed singing. Viva Films and Viva One should start them in the movies before they lose so much weight from gigs they do all over the country to add fortune to their fame.

The acronym in the concert’s title stands for “I Love You So Much,” a group concert mainly produced by Viva Live, a division of Viva Communications Inc. which also owns Viva Films and the digital platforms Vivamax and Viva One.

Most likely aware that even love stories that endured more than a decade among celebrity couples can go puff, Heart Evangelista and Senator Chiz Escudero renewed their lifetime commitment to each other at Balesin Island on Thursday, 15 February. It was their ninth wedding anniversary.

Her mom, Cecile Ongpauco, walked Heart down the aisle.

As seen in an Instagram story shared by fashion designer Michael Leyva, mother and daughter couldn’t help but tear up as they approached the end of the aisle.

They also embraced each other.

“Such a very touching moment,” Leyva wrote on his Instagram.

Evangelista’s dad (Rey) did not make it to the event as he is currently in the United States for medical treatment.

The actor’s parents did not attend her first wedding to Chiz in 2015, making this year’s ceremony extra emotional for the Global Fashion Icon.

Heart and Chiz held their renewal of vows at Balesin Island, the same place they tied the knot nine years ago.

The Kapuso actress looked like an ethereal bride in a custom Elie Saab piece with intricate beading and a veil.
