Broadway performers delighted audience at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Makati City on 18 and 19 November with Disney Princess: The Concert, a touching show reminiscent of childhood dreams. The nearly two hours of captivating entertainment, arranged by Willbros Live, swept the audience away to a night of “Happily Ever After.”
Set the stage for a magical experience, the evening began with the iconic Disney intro. Appearing in a green suit, host Benjamin Rauhala welcomed the audience before settling in behind the piano for the night’s events.
The concert began with the upbeat Disney Princess hit, “Starting Now,” performed by Anneliese van der Pol, Aisha Jackson, Krysta Rodriguez, and Steffanie Leigh. All dressed in stunning gowns, Steffanie’s energetic solo from Tangled, “When Will My Life Begin?” set the tone for an evening full of whimsical grace.
Krysta’s moving performance of Mulan’s “Reflection” went above and beyond, perfectly encapsulating the spirit of the adored Disney character. Anneliese then gave a mesmerizing rendition of “Touch the Sky” from Brave, to which the other three members of the group harmonized beautifully.
Aisha channeled Halle Bailey in “For the First Time” from The Little Mermaid, showcasing her vocal prowess. The evening topped in a medley of popular Disney classic songs, including “Someday My Prince Will Come,” “So This Is Love,” “Once Upon A Dream,” and “A Dream Is Wish Your Heart Makes,” which took the audience on a nostalgic musical journey across time.
With harmonies like “A Whole New World,” “Love Is An Open Door,” and “I See The Light,” Adam J. Levy brought a charming touch to the grabbing performances. His brief time on stage left an unforgettable impression.
Another highlights of the evening included a soulful rendition of Enchanted’s “How Does She Know” and a harmonious quartet performance of Disney classics “Part of Your World,” “Into the Unknown,” “Almost There,” and “Just Around the Riverbend.”
Aisha’s rendition of “For the First Time in Forever” and Anneliese’s comical take on “Mother Knows Best” added sophisticated grace and humor to the enchanting evening. A surprising plot twist came and one of my personal favorites is the performance of Anastasia’s “Journey To The Past,” proving that iconic songs transcend Disney boundaries.
