Start the year right with Donny Pangilinan!
The esports drama film, GG (Good Game) starring Pangilinan will hit theaters nationwide this 24 January, per Star Cinema.
“SUMABAY NA NGAYONG JANUARY 24, 2024 in theaters nationwide,” Star Cinema said on social media. “Para sa barkada, pamilya, para sa lahat!”
GG revolves around the esports scene in the Philippines and a passionate e-gamer named Seth. The film explores how the esports community helps foster teamwork and camaraderie among its players while also touching on life, relationships and one’s definition of success.
“Alam mo ‘yung tumingin ka sa paligid mo, na may kaya akong gawin sa level na hindi kaya ng iba, ‘yun ang gaming para sa akin (You know when you look around and realize no else can do what you can? That’s what gaming is to me.),” Pangilinan’s character intones in the two-minute trailer.
Apart from Pangilinan, his mother Maricel Laxa, veteran actor Baron Geisler, Iggy Boy Flores, Johannes Isler and Gold Aceron will be in the film. The movie will also feature the late Ronaldo Valdez. This is Pangilinan’s first time to appear in a movie with his real-life mom.
Pangilinan has starred in lead roles in several films, including James & Pat & Dave (2020), Love is Color Blind (2021) and An Inconvenient Love (2022). He is currently headlining the popular romantic-comedy series Can’t Buy Me Love opposite Belle Mariano.
