After the success of the 2018 drama film Hintayan ng Langit, a spin-off series titled Simula sa Gitna is coming out this year.

On 19 October, Prime Video unveiled the series’ official poster, showing lead actors Khalil Ramos and Maris Racal inside an elevator.

“Time to start racking up those ligtas points! Catch #KhalilRamos and #MarisRacal in #SimulaSaGitna, a spin-off series of the film #HintayanNgLangit,” announced the streaming platform on its social media pages, sparking excitement among fans and dedicated viewers of the 2018 film.

Ramos and Racal are a fresh pairing that will surely entice curious viewers.

Ramos has always been experimental and adventurous with his acting roles. He demonstrated his versatility by making his theatrical debut in Tick, Tick… BOOM! last August.

Racal, meanwhile, is showing off her acting prowess in the new romantic comedy series Can’t Buy Me Love with Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano.

Simula sa Gitna is written and directed by Antoinette Jadaone, the multi-award-winning filmmaker behind popular Filipino films like That Thing Called Tadhana (2014), Love You to the Stars and Back (2017), Never Not Love You (2018), Alone/Together (2019) and Fan Girl (2020).

Apart from Ramos and Racal, the series also stars Golden Globe and BAFTA nominee Dolly De Leon, Jane Oineza, Meann Espinosa and Adrian Lindayag.

Based on the one-act-play by Juan Miguel Severo, the 2018 film Hintayan ng Langit featured veteran actors Gina Pareño and the late Eddie Garcia as former lovers sharing the same apartment room in purgatory.

The series will stream exclusively on Prime Video on 2 November.
