BTS’ Jungkook took over New York City’s iconic Times Square on Thursday for an impromptu mini-concert that gathered a massive crowd, reaffirming the solo superstardom of the 26-year-old K-pop sensation.
The surprise concert, announced mere hours before Jungkook graced the stage, featured a special appearance by Filipino-American dancer and choreographer Brian Puspos.
The duo’s dance performance unfolded to cheers on the TSX Stage. Afterwards, Puspos described the experience as “An unforgettable and emotional night with the golden boyz. JK turned NYC and Times Square into a golden block party!”
Puspos was profuse in his gratitude to the BTS member. “The bro keeps turning my wildest dreams to life! Doing one of our million inside jokes on stage in front of the world was crazy lol. HEY! Love this team so much,” he said.
Jungkook’s latest solo track, “Standing Next to You,” also features Puspos. The music video, part of the “Golden” album, showcases Jungkook’s dance prowess as he pursues a mysterious woman, set against a disco-funk theme.
The collaboration isn’t the first for Puspos and Jungkook. They previously joined forces on the performance video of “Seven,” the lead single off the “Golden” album.
Puspos is a Texas-born dancer who found online fame showcasing his talents on YouTube beginning 2009. He has become a mainstay of Jungkook’s dance posse, particularly in the singles ‘Seven’ and ‘3D’ on TikTok.
Jungkook’s solo career, meanwhile, continues to soar, with diverse collaborations highlighting the global appeal of BTS and its individual members. Jungkook’s solo “Golden” album, released on 1 November, has debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.
