Conrad Manila recently welcomed the Year of the Wood Dragon with festive culinary delights, including the auspicious Yee Sang Prosperity Toss, Barbecue Whole Roasted Suckling Pig, Nian Gao Treasures and a specially curated Chinese set menu.
“The Chinese New Year marked the beginning of another journey to a roaring success and we were thrilled to have spent the joyous tradition with our loyal patrons, like in the previous years. We wish everyone happiness, good health and overflowing blessings this 2024,” shared Fabio Berto, Conrad Manila’s general manager.
Conrad Manila’s Lunar New Year auspicious festivities started at the main lobby where the traditional Chinese Dragon and Lion dance and the dotting of the eye ceremony were held. The Lion Dance went all around the hotel premises and its food outlets, including the China Blue by Jereme Leung, where executive Chinese executive chef Eng Yew Khor prepared a well-curated set menu for its diners.
Chef Khor prepared the Prosperity Salmon Yee Sang to usher in good fortune through the flavorful toss with family and friends.
“The traditional Prosperity Toss promises luck, wealth and prosperity to everyone,” said chef Khor.
Other traditional favorites, included CNY Raw Salmon with mix fruit and crispy soft shell crab, smoked duck, calamansi and sweet and sour sauce; Braised Fortune Money Bag Peach Gum with shrimp and minced with fish and sea moss broth; Dry Crispy Scallop Guang Dong Soya Chicken Fillet; Sauteed King Prawn with butter garlic, tomato gravy sauce and spring onion; Braised 10 Head Abalone, Sea Cucumber and Black Mushroom with dry shrimp roe and fried garlic sauce; Steamed Live Garoupa with garlic black bean and olive superior soya sauce; Wok-Fried US Premium Beef and Tendon with mushroom Xiang Jiang style; and Preserved Duck Meat Fried Rice with Chinese sausage and salted egg. For dessert, chef Khor prepared Chilled Prosperous New Year Snow Bird Nest with honey lemon jelly, sago pearl and citrus sorbet.
‘Nian Gao’ set
To bring home or share the good fortune that the season brings, Conrad Manila also presents the traditional Nian Gao set, which comes with one big Koi Fish filled with white almond and six small Koi Fish brimming with the classic flavors of traditional brown coconut caramel and refreshing citrus. The celebrations continue with the Lunar New Year-inspired cakes and pastries that are up for grabs at Bru Coffee Bar until 29 February.
