Bridging beauty and sustainability through artistry

Amidst a backdrop of recycled materials, Leeroy New and fellow artists, united by a shared commitment to environmental awareness, human connection and societal growth, presented a transformative art installation.

It was an opportune moment to revisit our roots and immerse ourselves in the spirit of the holiday season at Ayala Triangle Gardens for Elemento: Art + Light + Flow, an interactive art exposition presented by Art House and Search Mindscape Foundation.

This varied artistic experience, conveniently situated in the heart of Makati City, gave guests a chance to explore the powerful world of art and promotes conversations about change, community ties and sustainability.

With his masterworks “Elemental and Nautilus of Dreams,” renowned artist Leeroy New commanded attention. These inventive creations are cleverly made from plastic waste and recycled materials, such as plastic bottles, containers, boards, bamboo, cable ties, steel and solar-powered LED lights.

Leeroy New’s “Elemental” art installation, fueled by Liter of Light, stood out in the “Christmas Nights with Countless Lights” Festival. This exhibit not only showcases sustainable innovation through the integration of recycled materials and solar lights but also served as a symbolic beacon of light for communities with limited access to power beyond the exposition. The Elemento: Art, Light, + Flow exhibit at 2F, The Shops at Ayala Triangle Gardens, featured captivating artworks by 36 artists, all crafted from sustainable materials.

Carlo Pineda, Art House founder and CEO, emphasized the importance of showcasing Philippine culture, “breaking barriers for artists,” and “promoting sustainability and community” in their multidisciplinary platform, as reported by Tatler Asia.

Elemento transcended mere artistry; it stood as a tribute to the profound influence of art, fostering inspiration, connections and enlightenment. The initiative aspired to transform spaces with light creativity and community involvement, sparking conversations on materiality among artists, enthusiasts and communities.

The undertaking had  its origins in the “Agos” exhibition, where 19 artists delved into sustainable materials. Collaborating with Art House expanded the exploration into environmental realms, giving rise to the inception of a comprehensive and large-scale art exposition.

This endeavor demonstrated the potential for beauty to evolve into a powerful movement, affirming the universal nature of art as a bridge for diverse concepts and causes. Elemento and Leeroy New exemplified this by intertwining beauty with innovation and sustainability.
