Bling it on! — Jewelry 2024 Trend (Part 2)

It’s the start of the year and everyone’s going through a wardrobe refresh. While the trendsetting direction is focusing on quiet luxury, fashion is sparkling anew with a variety of priceless, meaningful and contemporary creations.

Modern/contemporary seems to be the key in what’s to come — from minimalist to re-imagined and reinvented nostalgic or vintage pieces.

There’s also a play on elegance from art to food, and even part of clothing (as detail, not accent, such as collar, hem, or sleeve).

However, generally, the style statement is about making the simple become extraordinary.

In the Philippines, our celebrated and seasoned jewelry makers and artists have their own outstanding insights for 2024.

Here’s what they have to say.

Walter McCaffrey and Janina Dizon for Janina Dizon Jewelry

Linear rings with an assortment of diamonds, emerald, ruby and amethyst centers in yellow gold.

“This was designed by Walter McCaffrey for our Joier Janina line. We wanted to design simple lines that create structure that best complement the center stones,” says Dizon.

“Our Solihiya Bangle from our latest Elementi Collection is a homage to the famous Philippine rattan weave. It is custom-made in your choice of either 14k or 18k handmade gold with options to accentuate with diamonds.

“We wanted to take forms inspired from natural elements to create wearable pieces handmade in gold.”

Joyce Makitalo

Lapis lazuli, emerald and antique diamond set in 18k gold.

“There is something commanding about lapis lazuli and emerald paired together. The Wind Horse pendants were inspired by East Asian prayer flags, to remind me of a couple of countries I’d like to visit in 2024: Tibet and Nepal,” says Makitalo.

Macky Fah, Bijouxfäh

The “Juxtaposition” collection is about the unexpected combined together.

“In my next collection, there will be numerous pinky rings. There is something so chic about a woman wearing a pinky ring which was historically mainly worn by men as a sign of prosperity,” says Fah.

Nicole Whisenhunt

18k WG 5 cross pendant necklace with 22.26 cts pointer dia, 0.08 baguette dia, 0.69 cts rose cut diamond, 1.215 ct emerald cut dia & 0.79 ct emerald cut diamond.

“This was a commissioned piece by a client who requested a necklace. She provided the bigger stones, which were the center stones used for each pendant. She gave me the free hand to create this piece to my liking. The design was based on an organic feel, inspired by the materials,” says Whisenhunt.
