The rise of BL (Boys’ Love) dramas and lakorn has become a global sensation, captivating audiences in Thailand, where it originated, and well beyond. (Lakorn is the term embraced by Thai drama enthusiasts.)

Two Thai loveteams — OffGun and TayNew — have played a big part in elevating the popularity of Thai BL series.

The two pairs delighted their Filipino fanbase, known as Polcas and Babiis, with solo performances during the #BELUCA1stFMinManila on Saturday, 16 December, at the New Frontier Theater.

The crowd was treated to musical numbers showcasing the individual talents of Off, Gun, Tay and New.

During the event, Off and Gun shared their excitement over upcoming episodes of their show Cooking Crush. The loveteam also revealed the Filipino dishes they’d like to try — Off choosing adobo and Gun eager to savor sinigang.

Tay and New engaged the audience in a playful game of This or That, which helped shed more light on their personalities.

Off said he was amazed at the Filipino crowd, calling them the loudest he has ever experienced, and that he wanted to meet as many Filipino fans as possible.

The fanmeet culminated with OffGun singing the OST “Hook” from My School President and TayNew delivering a soulful rendition of “Come Closer.”

Jumpol “Off” Adulkittiporn and Atthaphan “Gun” Phunsawat, known as OffGun, emerged as a powerhouse in the Thai Y-series industry following the Thai series Senior Love: Puppy Honey, where they portrayed a captivating side couple. The duo’s charisma, talent and undeniable chemistry garnered widespread attention, propelling them to more joint programs. Internationally, BL or “waai” is used to describe this genre, but in Thailand, it’s more commonly known as “Y.”

Meanwhile, Tay Tawan and New Thitipoom, fondly referred to as TayNew, gained fame through their roles in popular Thai BL series like Dark Blue Kiss and Kiss Me Again. They are set to appear in a new project, a Thai adaptation of Cherry Magic.
