Best birthday gift ever

It’s Showtime’s main host Vice Ganda feels it was her best birthday gift ever.

What she’s talking about is the landmark contract signing between top executives of GMA Network and ABS-CBN for It’s Showtime to air on GMA’s flagship channel starting 6 April.

“When we were thinking of my birthday episode, tatamaan kasi siya ng (will coincide with) Lenten season, Holy Week. (I said, ‘Let’s do it after so we can rest and we’ll be fresh.),” Vice said in an interview after the contract signing.

(We can rest, then when we come back, it’s going to be my birthday episode.) Hindi naman namin alam na may mangyayari na ganito kalaki (We didn’t know that something this big is going to happen), so April 6 is going to be a double celebration.”

He then concluded, “Pinakamagandang regalo ito ngayong birthday ko.” (This is the best gift I can receive on my birthday.)

Vice Ganda was born on 31 March 1976.

Rita Avila defends Marian Rivera

A visibly irked Rita Avila came to the defense of Marian Rivera after a post on social media surfaced that put Dingdong Dantes’ wife in a bad light.

What Avila was so pissed about involved a report on Balitang Chika, which had this post: “MARIAN RIVERA NATAKOT HUMIGA SA KABAONG? INOKRAY NG NETIZENS!” (Marian Rivera got scared to lie down in a coffin? She was bashed by netizens!)”

The production will just fix a scene in the Kapuso show ‘My Guardian Alien,’ in which Marian should be lying inside a coffin, but it was edited with just her face in it to make it appear she’s in the coffin).”

Avila commented to the post: “Ang bibilis nyong manghusga at pumuna. (You’re quick to judge and criticize. Maybe you’ll understand if you’re the actor, director, writer, production staff, producer. Just a little caution. We see all types of thinking and personality you all have. Are you proud?)

(The world is already dirty because of dirty thinking and dirty opinions. It’s so easy to criticize, so hard to think deep.)

Walang PINTAS. Ganun din sa ibang soaps ko. (Where do you stand now? In the easy or the hard way? When I made ‘Tatlo Magkasalo,’ I said I can’t lie down in a coffin. The production did something about it. They thought about it. No criticism. The same goes for all the soaps I did.

“GALIT kayo ksi naki-alam ako? Gamitin muna ang ISIP bago magalit. May ISIP kayo, wag kayong ano. May halaga kayo,” she added. (You’re mad that I’m prying into it. Use your thinking first before you get mad. Think, don’t be whatever. You have a value.)

Not a few sided with Avila.

“Ang tawag jan mga inggit. Kahit ano pa ang sasabihin nila about Queen Marian, andito kami palagi sa kanya naka-support. We love you both po,” one fan said. (That’s called envy. Whatever they say against Queen Marian, we’re always here to support her. Thank you Ma’am Rita for defending our Queen).

“Daming toxic na social media idol..lagi nalang pagkakamali sa iba inaatupag nila,” one fan wailed. (There are so many toxic people in social media…they’re always looking for the mistakes of other people).
