As the holiday season nears and Ayala Land celebrates its 35th Anniversary, Makati shone brightly once again as the annual ceremonial lighting of the Christmas decorations along Ayala Avenue illuminated the city on Tuesday, 7 November.
The Makati Central Business District became adorned with ornaments reminiscent of traditional Filipino holiday decor, including parols, stars, and capiz-adorned lights, honoring local heritage.
The enchanting radiance of these festive decorations, crafted by the designer Zenas Pineda, pays tribute to cherished Filipino traditions and symbolizes hope for the future.
Emphasizing sustainability, many of these decorations, including the impressive giant parols, were recycled from previous years.
This cherished annual tradition, led by Make It Makati and Ayala Land, Inc., unites the community in the spirit of joy and togetherness as it lights up the 1.9 km stretch of Ayala Avenue, marking the start of the Christmas season.
Wreaths, symbolizing unity and growth, add an extra layer of sparkle to the avenue, creating a festive atmosphere.
These decorations will be lit up on 7 November 2023, and remain on display until 14 January 2024.
The event was graced by the presence of the CEO of Ayala Land, Meean Dy, who added an extra layer of significance to the occasion.
“Tonight we witnessed one well-loved tradition, the lighting of the Christmas decorations along Ayala Avenue.” She added, “We welcome the season with hope, optimism, and gratitude.”
Congressman Luis Campos also expressed his hope for the Christmas spirit to touch everyone’s hearts.
“I hope the spirit of Christmas season permeates the hearts of everybody,” he said.
The Christmas season has truly begun in Makati, and it’s a sight to behold. The city welcomes everyone to explore the area where Christmas happens first, where the festive spirit comes to life before anywhere else, filling the streets with joy, warmth, and enchantment.
