“Today is a proud moment for Tytans Properties,” said Gerard Tan, chairman of Cebu-based Tytans Properties and Development Inc., on the successful contract signing between Accor and Tytans for the construction of the billion-peso Pullman Mactan Cebu Hotel and Residences. The formal agreement was held 26 February at the Tambuli Seaside Resort & Spa in Mactan, Cebu.
“Accor, renowned for its exceptional hospitality, and Tytans properties, known for its innovative real estate development, team up to create a powerful synergy that we know will set new standards in the industry,” Tan added.
Accor, the renowned global hospitality brand synonymous with luxury, will oversee the management of the upscale property under its innovative Pullman brand that’s well-known for its cutting-edge concepts.
Set to start construction in 2025 and open its doors in 2028, Pullman Mactan Cebu Hotel and Residences will sit inside the 120,000-sqm estate of Tytan Properties Development that currently houses the Tambuli Seaside Resort and Spa.
The upscale beachfront resort and residences will feature a total of 1,100 rooms, with 200 rooms designated for the hotel and 900 rooms for the branded residences. This makes it the largest Pullman property in the world.
The project will consist of three towers, each topped with a penthouse. It will offer modern amenities and full-service facilities, such as trendy restaurants, stylish lounges, shared recreational areas and innovative workspaces for the enjoyment of both guests and residents.
Landmark destination
Why is Mactan or Cebu, in general, worth developing as a destination?
“As a Cebuano, I am a believer of Cebu,” said Tan. “It has a great potential to be the tourist capital of the Philippines. And why not? We have the famous whale sharks that should be in the bucket list for all tourists. We also have the adorable turtles and sardines in Moalboal. We have the longest suspension bridge in the country, the CCLEX. Not to mention, the world’s famous Cebu lechon and, I claim, we have the world’s best mango.
“That’s why I and my business partner Congressman Sonny Lagon believe that we should make Pullman Mactan Cebu Hotel and Residences a reality,” added Tan, who also mentioned that they are in the process of completing the hotel’s design, with its architect also from Cebu.
After the success of Pullman Residences in Singapore, Pullman Mactan Cebu Hotel & Residences is ready to establish a new benchmark for branded residences in the Philippines.
“We are delighted to partner with Tytans Properties Development on this remarkable project that demonstrates Accor’s confidence and commitment to the promising potential of the Philippines,” said Garth Simmons, chief operating officer of Accor, Asia. “Cebu City, with its distinctive blend of urban vibrancy and coastal charm, presents an ideal locale to cater to diverse markets. We are positive that this project will attract a wide variety of homeowners and guests, from leisure enthusiasts to corporate travellers seeking extended stays. It is poised to redefine premium living and hospitality experiences in Cebu.”
Since the business climate and hospitality industry trends are always changing, there have been shifts also in lifestyles after the pandemic. The shift, for one, is attributed to attractive investment yields offered by management programs, coupled with a rising demand for residential-type units. Hotel-branded residences are also redefining luxury living in the Philippines.
“That’s why, it is comforting to be partners with Accor who can help us navigate through the dynamic environment to stay relevant,” Tan shared. “Accor offers experiences across more than 110 countries with a strong network from the different parts of the globe. We are confident that we are on the right track. The Pullman brand is known for its trendsetting lifestyle concept which will suit the landscape that we are in.”
