A chance to rediscover a familiar destination and explore more of what it has to offer should not be missed. The island of Boracay is famous for its white sand beaches found along the stretch of Stations Zero to Three. On this visit, we discovered and experienced the crystal-clear waters and soft, powdery white sand found on Bulabog beach on the eastern side of the island.
Bulabog is also home to kite surfing, windsurfing enthusiasts, and visitors wanting to go for a swim and on walks along a paved and quieter path along the beach. Lined with restaurants and cafés, the area is a welcome respite from the crowded and more popular spots in Boracay.
Being familiar with the famous white beach of this island, we decided to explore more of it and booked a stay in a hotel we found online. It looks majestic, classy, and yet simple with a homey vibe. With that information in mind, we found ourselves on an airplane heading to Caticlan Airport.
Thinking about the aquamarine colors of the sea, we wanted to experience the water’s reflection on a huge property fronting the beach this time around. Figuratively, it is time to indulge in the white and aqua colors found this side of Boracay.
Aqua Boracay
Aquamarine stones have been referred to in ancient times as the “water of the sea.” A perfect description of this gem of a destination at Bulabog beach. I observed that the name and theme of this hotel make it seem like the aqua-colored water was pulled from the sea to create the vibrant tones of this property by the sea.
Touring Aqua Boracay, we noticed luxurious and spacious rooms around the property. They also have an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking which is rare in these parts, a fitness center, and a vast garden. There were lots of spaces in the garden that could be used for events. The rest of the property includes a restaurant, room service, and a 24-hour front desk, along with free WiFi throughout the property. There is also a bar for guests near the beach.
Aqua’s air-conditioned rooms include a large closet, a coffee machine, a fridge, a safety deposit box, a flat-screen TV, a balcony, and a private bathroom with a bidet. The hotel also offers some rooms with sea views of Bulabog beach.
D’Mall, filled with shops and restaurants at Station 2, is only a few minutes’ walk from the hotel although they have shuttle service to take you wherever you want to go on the island.
Upon arrival at Caticlan Airport, we were greeted by the hotel’s representative and ushered to their waiting Coaster minibus. The ride to the jetty port is only a few minutes and after boarding their private speedboat service, we found ourselves in another private van and on the way towards a pleasant discovery.
The customary welcome drink of aquamarine blue hues was refreshing and appreciated. Check-in was a breeze and as we walked through the property, we were amazed at how big it was. When we entered our assigned dwelling for this trip, we marveled at the commodious size of the luxurious junior suite that was provided. With a separate bedroom, the suite’s dining area is roomy and well-fitted with a personal refrigerator and coffee maker. We can easily just order room service, but there’s lots to explore and discover. We arrived just in time for lunch and were ready to try different dishes at their signature restaurant.
Qtchn
During lunch on our first day, we tried Aqua Boracay’s main restaurant which is artfully named Qtchn. Boracay is known for its white beaches but there are also great restaurants and signature food you must try. It was a pleasant surprise to know that the popular white beach Chori burger, four cheese pizza and Calamansi Muffin are also available in the restaurant’s bill of fare.
They also offer Filipino and Chinese dishes as well. What we recommend is the grilled pork chop and hot and sour soup along with delectable desserts like turon with ice cream.
Mist Spa
Visitors flock to Boracay to either party or to recover from a week of corporate work in the city. We did not miss the chance to check out Aqua Boracay’s spa. We need a good massage that will bring us a much-needed feeling of revitalization. This was certainly a highlight of our visit. The private rooms at Mist and its staff definitely rejuvenated us for another round of activities for the next day.
Kitesurfing and windsurfing
Bulabog beach reminds me of a piece of Siargao, where one can indulge in water activities and also enjoy the quaint restaurants nearby. For adventurous guests, Aqua Boracay can arrange a lesson at the beach right in front of the hotel.
The hotel also sponsored an international kitesurfing event just recently. The area was lively with folks from different countries competing for top prizes.
This trip revealed what Bulabog beach has to offer. It is only a stone’s throw away from Station 2 which makes it easier to explore.
