Eastwood City Walk of Fame is set to honor 20 new inductees this 6 March to join the over 300 notable figures in Philippine entertainment who are immortalized in brass stars lining the pedestrian walkway in the mixed-use development complex in Quezon City.
Popular young stars Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano, known as a love team by the portmanteau DonBelle, lead this year’s honorees. They currently star in the romance-drama series Can’t Buy Me Love, which is produced by ABS-CBN Studios and can also be streamed on Netflix.
The announcement has been posted on Eastwood City’s official Facebook page, saying that the inductees fall under the categories of News and Public Affairs, Radio, Television, Movies, Music, Social Media and Theater.
The DonBelle love team is joined in the Television category by fellow actors Richard Yap, Sanya Lopez, Luis Manzano and Miss Universe-Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee.
Under the same category are GMA Network’s recently retired chief executive officer, Atty. Felipe Gozon, Solar Entertainment’s president Wilson Y. Tieng and director Johnny Manahan, who had mentored many of today’s top stars.
The Movie category is represented by Viva Films’ chairman and chief executive officer Vic del Rosario, filmmakers Brillante Mendoza and Tony Reyes, and actor Baron Geisler.
“Thank you Lord!!! Such an honor folks. See you all. To God be the glory!!,” Geisler wrote in a social media post to show his appreciation for the honor. In 2022, he starred in the drama Doll House, which won for him the citation for Asia’s Best Actor in Lead Role at the Thailand International Leadership Awards the following year.
Under the Music category, there are the bands The Dawn and Rivermaya, which recently held a concert reuniting with past members.
The Theater category is represented by actress Menchu Lauchengco, while YouTuber Small Laude does the same for the Social Media category.
Rounding up the list of 2024 inductees are GMA’s entertainment reporter Lhar Santiago and One News host Cathy Yang for the News and Public Affairs category, along with DZBB anchor and Super Balita sa Umaga Nationwide host Joel Reyes Zobel for the Radio category.
Inspired by the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Eastwood City Walk of Fame was spearheaded in 2005 by the German Moreno Walk of Fame Foundation that aims to highlight the contributions made by luminaries in the entertainment industry.
